Northern Arizona University, USA – Updates on Fall 2020 – FAQ’s

I hope you and your teams are safe and doing well. All of us are facing an unprecedented situation and your students too must be asking you about what to expect next. I have tried to answer below a few of the commonly asked questions, please reach out to me in case you have any more queries. 

1) Will the classes start on campus in Fall 2020? NAU has decided to hold classes on the campus this fall. The challenge remains with the visa dates not opening, in case the visa dates open and the students get the visa they can come and join classes in person. 

 2) If we cannot join classes in Fall, can we start the course online? Yes, students can start classes online and take up to 6 credit hours for Computer Science Students and 3 credit hours for other majors. The costs of online classes will be significantly lower than in-person attendance. The details about the courses available and related costs will be shared soon.

 3) Can I Defer my admission to Spring 2021, will I need to send an application again for this?  A  student who has received an admit for fall 2020 can easily defer their admission to spring 2021 by sending us an email. They will not be required to reapply just an email request for the same should be sufficient. We suggest you encourage students to wait and see how the COVID situation is panning out before requesting a deferment. Ideally, they should apply for deferment as late as possible ideally by late June or early July.

 4) I have got a scholarship, will that be carried forward with to the next intake in case I defer? Yes, we shall honor all International Excellence Awards ( scholarships) provided to students in fall 2020 who wish to defer to Spring 2021. 

5) I have got an i20, do I need to send documentation again In case I defer to Spring 2021. The documentations for fall 2020 should be sufficient for issuing  i20’s for Spring 2020. here again, we need only an email request for issuing an i20 for spring 2021. 
6) Should I send my financials considering I might not join the Fall 2020 intake. We strongly encourage all students to submit their financials to us and get their i20’s issued for Fall 2020. WE will be happy to issue fresh i20’s for Spring 2021 if the students wish to do so. The financials can be submitted via soft copy through email so no courier is required for this. We do not ask for a deposit for the i20’s so the students do not need to spend any money on the same. Please let me know if you have any other questions which you would like answers for, I shall be happy to answer them. In case you have any admitted students who have changed their plan of coming to NAU, kindly let us know their names at the earliest so we can release their reserved scholarships and issue them to other students.
